Our Lady Of The Hilltop Catholic Church is located at 29 South Eureka Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. We are an Independent Catholic Community, in communion with The Independent Catholic Diocese of North America and her Bishop.This means that we are not under the jurisdiction of The Pope. We recognize The Pope as The Bishop of Rome which is one of the titles that he has. Being independent does not give us free reign to believe and teach what we want. It requires us to think as John XXIII wanted us ALL to do, think for ourselves and read and understand the Gospels of Christ, as these are the spoken words of Our Lord and Savour! John XXIII, at the time of his papacy believed that we as humans have grown in our understanding and interpretation of the Gospels and that we should "open the doors and windows of the church to allow fresh air in!"
Being a Christian in this life is not easy. For many reasons people are called upon to make decisions that are not easy. Many of these decisions are not in keeping with "main stream" church teachings and beliefs. By being independent it allows us to welcome home those individuals who have made decisions that may not be acceptable to others. These include divorce, drug and alcohol addiction/abuse, abortion, walking away from faith and sexual orientation. By living the Gospels and doing as Christ commanded to call home to faith, love and acceptance. This fulfills the mandate of the church of feeding His sheep, feeding and clothing the hungry and the naked, to spread joy, faith, hope and love where there is none.
We seek the love of God in all people regardless of their present state of life. God has created all of us in his image and loves each and everyone equally. We are all unique and within each of us dwells the divinity of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
We practice as the Catholics do. That is our masses are traditional, but our beliefs are progressive. The Church has not changed, it is we who have changed in our understanding and interpretation of the Bible and Gospels of Christ.
It is time that we as Christians put into practice the teachings of Christ, and that is LOVE! He condemned no one, forgave and accepted all and commanded that we follow him.
We are open to all people regardless of religious affiliation who seek a contemporary walk with God. We practice open communion, we only ask that you believe and are reconciled to God in your heart and soul.
